The proliferation of GenAI has necessitated discussion around its impact on assessment of students’ learning across the university sector. Following the first year of implementation of a GenAI transparency scale to indicate permitted and actual use of GenAI within student assessments on Teacher Education courses, a focus group was used to gain understanding of student perceptions on assessment design and completion in the age of GenAI. The focus group offered insight into ways in which students had and would like to use Gen AI to support their work on assignments, reflections on the AI transparency scale implemented and their ideas for how assessments could be designed for their specific courses in the age of GenAI.
